Customizable Homepage Dashboard

Overview

The Customizable Homepage Dashboard feature allows administrators to build tailored dashboard views for their team by combining dashboard widgets and assigning them to specific user permission sets. Instead of a one-size-fits-all homepage, each user group can see only the information most relevant to their role.

Who Can Set Up Dashboards?

This feature is managed by administrative users who have the Manage Dashboards permission enabled on their permission set. If you don't see the Dashboards tab described below, contact your account owner to confirm your permissions.

Setting Up a Custom Dashboard

Step 1: Navigate to Account Settings

From the left navigation menu, click Account. Then click the Dashboards tab at the top of the page. You'll see a list of any dashboards that have already been created, along with the permission sets they're assigned to.

Step 2: Add a New Dashboard

Click + Add Dashboard. You'll be taken to the dashboard editor.

Step 3: Configure the Dashboard

On the dashboard editor page, complete the following:

  • Name – Enter a descriptive name for the dashboard (e.g., "Staff Dashboard" or "Manager Dashboard").

  • Select Permission Sets – Choose one or more permission sets this dashboard should apply to. All users assigned to those permission sets will see this dashboard as their homepage. A permission set can only be assigned on dashboard at a time.

Step 4: Select Dashboard Widgets

The editor displays two columns:

  • Selected Dashboard Blocks – The widgets that will appear on this dashboard.

  • Available Dashboard Blocks – Widgets available to add.

Drag and drop widgets from Available to Selected to include them, or rearrange them to set the order they appear on the homepage. The available widgets are:

Step 5: Save the Dashboard

Click Save Dashboard. The dashboard will immediately become active for all users in the assigned permission sets the next time they load their homepage.

Managing Existing Dashboards

On the Dashboards tab, each saved dashboard has two action buttons:

  • Edit (pencil icon) – Modify the dashboard name, permission sets, or widgets.

  • Delete (trash icon) – Permanently remove the dashboard.

You can create as many custom dashboards as needed — for example, one for administrators, one for data entry staff, and one for reporting users.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can users customize their own dashboard? No — dashboards are configured by administrators and applied at the permission set level. Individual users cannot modify their own dashboard layout.

What if no dashboard has been assigned to a user's permission set? Users without an assigned dashboard will see the default homepage view (Bulletin Board and Tasks).

Can I add the same widget more than once? No — each widget can only be added once per dashboard.

Tips for Getting the Most Out of Dashboards

  • Match widgets to workflows. Staff who handle form submissions daily will benefit most from the Form Submissions and Form Submissions to Review widgets. Managers may prefer Assigned Contacts and Goals views.

  • Keep it focused. Fewer, high-priority widgets are often more useful than showing everything at once.

  • Use descriptive names. Naming dashboards after the role or team (e.g., "Home Visitor Dashboard") makes it easy to manage them as your organization grows.
