Tasks can be used to assign work or call someone's attention to something in VerticalChange. You can create tasks for yourself to create a to do list, or assign tasks to other users to manage your staff's workload. There are two ways to create tasks in VerticalChange, depending on where in the app you are.

Create a Task from the Create Button

You can create a new task anywhere from any page in VerticalChange by clicking on the green Create button next to the Jump To Contact search bar.

The first option in the list is Task.

Permissions Note: This button is controlled by the permission "Create task --- Allow user to create a new task". If you or your staff do not see this button, check the permission set to see if this is enabled, or reach out to your Customer Success Manager to update!

Once you click the Task button, a form will pop-up on the screen requiring you to fill out a few details to complete the task.

Task Details

Name - this is a short intro/name for the Task. This field is required.

Description - this is an optional place where you can include additional details, notes or instructions about the task.

Assigned To - this is the user in VerticalChange that you would like to assign the task to. This field is required.

  • You can select one or more users to assign the task to

  • You can also select yourself ("Me") as the Assigned To user, if you'd like to add the Task to your own list

  • The list of users includes active and pending Staff and Participant users in the VerticalChange system

  • Permissions Note: The list of available staff is dependent on the permission "Update task assignment --- Allow user to reassign a task". If this permission is not enabled, the user will only be able to assign themselves tasks

Due Date - this is when the task is due. You can choose from the following options:

  • Later - this means there is no due date, and will be added to the user's Task list with no strict deadline

  • Today

  • Tomorrow

  • 7 Days From Now

  • Next Month

  • Specific date/time - you can choose a specific date and time in the past or future when the task is due. Please note that the above options will default the due time to 5:00 P.M., so selecting "Specific date/time" will allow you to further specify a time.

Include link to current page - selecting the "Include link to current page" button will add a link to the Task which will bring the user to the page you are currently on when creating the task.

Once you have completed all details, click Add this task.

If the task was assigned to another user, that user will receive an email notification that they have been assigned a new task.

Create a Task from the Tasks Page

The second way you can create a new task is from the Tasks page. Click on the Tasks button in the left-hand navigation menu to go to the Tasks page.

Permissions Note: This button is controlled by the permission "View task --- Allow user to view tasks".

Once on the Tasks page, you will see a list of all of your assigned tasks. In the top-right of the page, click on the blue Add Task button.

Once you click on the Add Task button, the same form will pop-up for you to input all of the Task details.

The only difference here is you will not be able to link the existing page when creating it from the Tasks page.

Click Add this Task and the new task will be created and sent to the assigned user (or added to your list if assigned to yourself).
